Look what I pulled out of the closet...
I've had my Ashford Joy for three years... and it's never been used. I also opened up a box of 8 lbs of undyed roving. 8 lbs seems like a lot for someone who doesn't really spin or dye yet. I guess it's a good thing I also found a box of chemicals and dyes. Then there was a box with an electronic scale, niddy noddy, Katie a-Go Go and WooLee Winder in it. That makes things a little easier. I think I'm all set for some serious dyeing and spinning. It's going to be awhile before I manage to make anything knit worthy though. When I first wanted to spin I pulled out all the stops and pretty much bought everything I would need.. then the thrill was gone. I tend to dive in head first and then don't do much with it. I know, who would have thought I would go overboard buying things. It's really a shocker. All that comes to mind is the song with the line "a little less talk and a lot more action".. that is exactly what needs to go on around here! Action, baby! Hopefully there's some patience wrapped up under the Christmas tree with my name on it so that this whole spinning thing will be a little easier for me.
Now that I have stunned you with my new endeavor this might put you right over the edge...
It's only the most fantabulous gift evah! My bud, Gaby, had this custom dyed for me by the one and only Jenny Boully (Woolly Boully)! I have two skeins of both the meanie and softie bases. Here's the best part of all.. Jenny named it Megann's Crafty Christmas! The giddiness just doesn't wear off. A big HUGE thank you to both of them!
I wish I had more to show you but the knitting hasn't exactly been flying off the needles lately. It's been pretty busy around here since Thanksgiving. You know, that time of year when it's one thing after another. The hubs recently had a birthday. I bought him The ISIS. He's a bit of a thinker (the guy literally reads books on quantum physics just for fun) so it seemed like a great gift. I didn't realize just how big of a hit it would be. He happily sits there for hours with it. Now he doesn't ask me when I going to put my knitting down because he can't put that damn puzzle ball down. I should have bought it long ago.
It's time for that action I was mentioning. Eleanor needs some attention. Yes, that's my wheel's name. I wonder if there is anything that I don't name? I need to get out her instruction manual and see what it takes for her to spit out some good yarn. The biggest problem with that is that I'm going to have to put down my bag of Trader Joe's chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels. You have no idea what a sacrifice that is.

custom. dyed.
I am freakin plotzing.

Jenny named a yarn after you? I don't even have one of her yarns named after me! Oh wow! I'm going to have to talk to her! ;) It's a gorgeous colorway.
I do the same thing you do - I decide I want to do something and buy everything under the sun. My wheel is still sitting in my studio along with a bunch of roving and top, the Woolee Winder, a lazy kate, blah blah blah. I keep thinking that I'll do it one of these days.
I don't think we should go shopping together.

Megann, I'm so glad you liked the yarn. Gaby really wanted to make it really special for you, and I'm glad we were able to produce something you like.

Wait, I'm dusting myself off after seeing the wheel!
The custom yarn is really great and I like how it looks just a little different in the different yarns.
Here's hoping the puzzle isn't solved anytime soon!

I am in love with that yarn! And, I can't wait to see what you spin up. I have been wanting to learn to spin too!
