Have you ever thought about just how much you can get for $1,000? How about...
40-45 skeins of indie dyed sock yarn
Weekend in Vegas (if you are within driving distance)
Low end Louis Vuitton bag
Five weeks of groceries (for my fam at least)
14 tanks of gas for The Ho (again.. it's all about me)
Decent 37" plasma TV
Did I mention a dreamy amount of indie dyed sock yarn?
Well do you want to know what I got for $1,000 yesterday?...
A crazy looking cat! Actually it's quite sad. Poor Mia has been on the sick side for a couple of weeks and went through a few tests yesterday that required her to try out a new look. Last week she only had the shaved leg where they were putting the IV in.. but they really pulled out the big guns yesterday. And yes, she is overweight. That flabby shaved kitty tummy is just too ridiculous. So.. please send good thought her way. I'll find out tomorrow if she has liver cancer.
On another not so hot note...
It had so much promise.. but.. it's so big that it fit on the blocker without having to even stretch. Not what a person that lacks cankles wants in a sock. The pattern is Socks of Kindness. First of all.. great pattern! I really love it. The problem was the knitter. I was using Posh Emily which is said to be fingering weight but I am convinced that it's sport weight.. hence the ginormous sock. So off it goes to the hell where the Rhodonite Jaywalker currently resides. Obviously the Sock "Gods" are not pleased and are trying to get me to give up my love for sock knitting. While they didn't do that they certainly made me dislike it just a tad. Lacy scarf here I come. They say that scarves are the cool thing for 2008 so how do I say no. I'm thinking of doing another Misty Garden scarf from Scarf Style in this gorgeous Yarn Pirate BFL Wintergreen that I bought at The Loopy Ewe...
I LOVE green and this yarn is just stunning. The picture doesn't do it justice. So let's just hope that I don't screw up the scarf like I have been with the socks lately. It will be nice to pull something out of my stash and use it. I think my $1,000 day at the vet will be slowing down my yarn purchases. Plus, I need to save all my dollars for.. are you ready?.. The Loopy Ewe Spring Fling!! I'm so excited that I got in. Is it wrong to bring an empty suitcase just for the loot I'll be bringing home?
So what could you get for $1,000?
*interesting Google search that landed someone here - Can you get salmonella from pancakes* Hmm.
UPDATE: NO CANCER!

CAN you get salmonella from pancakes?

I TRULY know how you feel... we've had more than one $1000 PLUS vet bill for our cats. Will went into kidney failure after a urinary blockage and resistant bladder infection that ascended to his kidney's. Thankfully after a few days in the 'hospital' on fluid therapy, he recovered and is completely fine now. Loki ate string and it got stuck and required surgical removal - that was a rough one. Now all the 'kids' are insured against just such occurances. Of course in the 3 years they have been insured, there have been no incidents.
Anyway - my thoughts are with you and your adorably chubby Mia. Fingers crossed for NO Cancer!

Megann, I am so sorry to hear that Mia is sick. I will keep good thoughts and fingers crossed that she is okay!
Do the scarf, it will get the knitting slump cured. It doesn't have to "fit" so that is always easier. That sock and yarn are really beautiful though.

Ugh! No cancer!! Fingers crossed!
I can think of a thousand different things I could do with the money, but I am sure it is money well spent! We had no heat this morning and it was 6 degrees outside! It was 46 in the living room! $200 and 3 hours later, we have heat. There goes some yarn money. Oh well. But, I will see you at the Spring Fling!! I hope we will all have fun!

I'm so sorry about Mia. I truly hope that she gets better quickly. Our Bug macaw just laid an egg, the poor thing. I know what she went through (all things are relative).
You CAN'T STOP KNITTING SOCKS! I'm opening in a week or two, and the majority of my yarn is fingering! NOOOOOOOO!!!!! You HAVE to come shopping with me!! I've got some surprises! :) (trying bribery)
If that gorgeous sock on the blocker will fit a size 10 foot and you can bring yourself to finish them, I'll buy them from you. I don't have a single pair of hand-knit socks. Isn't that sad? Me, the Yarn Goddess, going without?
I can sneeze and a grand flies out the window. I won't even begin to tell you how much money I piss away in places like Vegas. I could buy a high-end Louis Vuitton for what I gamble.
BTW, how are you?

I'm sending happy thoughts her way and bummer about the socks, hope everything gets better as the week goes on.

What a cute kitty. Hope she is feeling better soon!
I am jealous of your Loopy trip. If I was going, I would so save up and try to buy $1000 of yarn! :)

Over 3,000 when my dog Sparky got cancer, and we didn't even treat it. Sad!
Have fun at the Loopy!

What a beautiful kitty you have. I jumped for joy and said YAY when I read your last line saying no cancer. Two beautiful words to hear indeed. I'm glad she's okay.
I just finished my Moonlight scarf from Scarfstyle today and have the Misty pattern in my queue.

Yippee! No cancer...awesome. So coveting that Wintergreen--it is gorgeous. And your spot at the Spring Fling. You will take pics and post 'em, right?! Oh, so jealous... Congrats!
